Mother charged with DUI, wanton endangerment

Posted on March 6th, 2012 No Comments

A Knox County mother of two is facing charges of driving under the influence and wanton endangerment after she crashed her car with her six week-old twins inside.

Deputies from the Knox County Sheriff’s Office claim the woman appeared to be intoxicated when they responded to the accident. She notified them that her infant children were in the car at the time of the crash but that she had taken them to house nearby.

Witnesses say they saw one of the babies on the floor in front of the passenger seat and the other baby was in a baby carrier, but it fell out when they opened the door. The twins were rushed to the hospital and admitted to the ICU.
