The Villaspring Health Care and Rehabilitation Center in Erlanger is under fire as the United States files a lawsuit against the nursing home, claiming that it billed Medicare and Medicaid $16 million  for “worthless” services. The lawsuit states the nursing home attempted to defraud the United States by forcing the government to pay for services it provided in an abusive and deficient manner.

The US states Villaspring failed to provide adequate care which led to death for some patients. This is not the first complaint the rehabilitation center has received. A complaint was filed in 2007 by the Kent County Attorney General and court papers claim that from 2004 to 2008, the Villaspring Health Care and Rehabilitation Center’s neglect of physician’s orders, patient injuries, and patient’s health requirements caused numerous injuries and, in five cases, death.
