Veteran sues hospital for severely damaging his genitals

Posted on October 2nd, 2012 No Comments

A Louisville veteran is suing the Veterans Administration for medical malpractice after he says a nurse kept ice packs on his groin for 19 hours after surgery, causing frostbite and gangrene. As a result, his penis had to be partially amputated.

According to ABC 15, the man is seeking $10 million in damages. Doctors had to remove a five-inch section of his penis, which will require him to undergo reconstructive surgery to allow him to urinate.

The Department of Veterans Affairs claims that the man’s injuries were not a result of nurse or hospital negligence and denied his claim under the Federal Tort Claims Act.
