Pilot killed in small plane crash

Posted on April 17th, 2012 No Comments

A 54 year-old Louisville man was killed over the weekend when his small aircraft crashed in a field in Breckinridge County. Before the crash, the pilot radioed to his friend following a few minutes behind that the plane was suffering electrical problems and he was going to try to land.

The man was flying a high performance experimental aircraft made from kits created by Lancair International, Inc. The pilot was the only person on board the two-seated plane.

Emergency responders said the aircraft disintegrated after hitting the ground. The pilot is believed to have died on impact. The Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board are investigating the crash.
