The wife of a retired Air Force master sergeant was awarded $7.5 million by the US government after Air Force medical staff failed to diagnose and treat her for a herniated spinal disk seven years ago.
The woman had gone to the doctors several times for numbness in her groin, legs, and feet. The Guam hospital failed to do a basic medical examination, did not report the case to superiors, and misdiagnosed her condition, which has left her permanently disabled. Although she underwent an emergency surgery in Hawaii, she still suffers from nerve damage due to the lack of treatment.
